Cancun Nightlife And Dining

Cancun’s nightlife is reportedly one of the best reasons to vacation there. For breakfast, lunch or dinner, restaurants in Cancun run the gamut in price, type and dining experiences. With more than 400 restaurants to choose from, dining in Cancun is an adventure. There are, of course, wonderful Mexican restaurants, but you can also dine on good steaks, seafood, Japanese, Italian, French, Caribbean or American fast food. Some tour companies also offer dinner cruises. Ask your travel agent or hotel about the best options for those cruises.

Cancun Dining

For an authentic local dining experience, consider a restaurant in El Centro, where many of Cancun’s local residents live. Restaurants here are often more inexpensive than those in the Hotel Zone and are easily accessible from the Hotel Zone by bus or taxi.

In El Centro, an authentic Mexican breakfast, or desayuno, usually consists of a pastry, coffee, tea or milk, while many of the resort hotels in the Hotel Zone have started offering breakfast buffets. Lunch is traditionally the largest meal of the day for Mexicans, so try some of the local fare in El Centro.

There are hundreds of family-oriented restaurants throughout Cancun. And, for a taste of Americana, or children who refuse to eat anywhere else, McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza and Pizza Hut all have a presence in Cancun.

When paying your bill at any restaurant, check to see if a gratuity has been added to the bill. Servers, like those in the U.S., rely on tips, so tip as you would in a restaurant at home. Most inclusive hotels state that tips are included.

Cancun Nightlife

Nightclubs such as Senor Frogs, La Boom and Coco Bongo are legendary and provide drinks, dancing, laser shows and entertainment well into the wee hours of the morning. Party cruises are an attractive alternative to partying in a club. Many hotels offer live music and discos. The Parque De Las Palapas, in El Centro, also offers live music and is popular with Cancun’s local residents.

Both the Hotel Zone and Cancun City offer a wide array of nightclubs, bars, cantinas and live music venues for vacationers who want to experience Cancun after dark. Keep in mind, the legal drinking age in Mexico is 18, which makes Cancun a popular spot for Spring Breakers from all over.
